The cloud platform behind your connected products

We design, build and run custom device-to-cloud platforms that connect, update and manage your products in the field, in your own Azure or AWS environment.

The challenge

When does a connected product need a better cloud platform?

A cloud platform built for one connected product can become a constraint when the fleet grows or a second product line arrives. Firmware updates feel risky because a failed update means a site visit. Support calls rise because installers can’t see what the device is doing. And when the app loses its connection, the complaint lands with your support team.

For a product line being connected for the first time, the decisions are just as important: how devices are provisioned, updated and supported throughout their lives. It’s easier to design these capabilities early than change them once devices are installed.

What we build

What does a device-to-cloud platform include?

Our IoT cloud integration work connects devices, cloud services and the applications your installers and users rely on. We engineer these layers together, whether you’re connecting a product for the first time or extending an existing platform.

Connect and manage devices

Secure, bidirectional device-to-cloud connectivity over MQTT, WebSocket or HTTPS, built on Azure IoT Hub and Event Hub, or AWS. Device onboarding, pairing, user roles and access permissions. One platform designed to support multiple product lines.

Operate and update the fleet

Remote monitoring, configuration and secure firmware updates over the air. Operational data helps teams detect problems early. 24/7 monitoring and support are available after launch.

Enable digital services

Remote diagnostics and field-service apps for installers, native mobile apps and web portals for owners, and APIs for third-party systems. Device controls can also move into an app, reducing the need for physical controls in future hardware generations.

Why Proekspert

Why build your device cloud with Proekspert?

Because we work on both sides of the connection. For Stiebel Eltron we cover device connectivity, cloud and apps together: WebSocket, JSON-RPC and mDNS on the device side, Azure, .NET Core and React in the cloud. Our teams cover embedded software, device connectivity and cloud, so protocol, firmware and backend are designed together.

We design for devices where uptime, security and long-term maintenance matter: high availability, secure remote updates and dual communication paths. The platform runs in your Azure or AWS account, with the source code in your repositories, and we can stay on to run and extend it. For a global heat pump maker, we have run the remote monitoring and control platform 24/7 since 2018, with third-level support under an SLA and improvements released without downtime for users.

Case studies

Device-to-cloud platforms we've built and run

These projects show two sides of device-to-cloud engineering: connecting devices, cloud services and user applications, and modernizing an existing platform on Azure.

Modular cloud platform for remote product management

A central device and user data management system on Azure, so a green tech manufacturer can monitor and manage its premium devices remotely. Cloud backbone, technician tools and end-user apps delivered together, and we maintain the platform in operation.

Heat pump platform rebuilt on a modular Azure cloud

The legacy remote control and monitoring platform for ground-source heat pumps, rebuilt as a modular Azure cloud. Installers now support homeowners using online operational data, and a major part of complaint calls and emails stopped after go-live.

Process

How a device-to-cloud project runs

Whether you are extending an existing platform or connecting a new product line, we start with what is already in place: your devices, your cloud and your service process.

  1. Step 1

    Review

We look at your devices, current cloud setup and product plans, and give you a realistic picture of what to expect, with estimates.

  2. Step 2

    Architecture and plan

We define the platform architecture, cloud services and protocols, and plan the rollout by product line, starting where impact is highest and risk lowest.

  3. Step 3

    Build or migrate

We set up the cloud infrastructure, connect the devices and build the apps. Existing functionality moves over step by step, supported by integration testing and automated deployment pipelines.

  4. Step 4

    Run and extend

We can provide 24/7 monitoring, third-level support and ongoing improvements, and extend the platform as your product portfolio grows.

FAQ

Questions about device-to-cloud platforms

Proekspert doesn’t sell a proprietary IoT platform. We engineer device-to-cloud solutions around your products, requirements and existing infrastructure. The right choice depends on your fleet size, device requirements, existing infrastructure and long-term plans. An off-the-shelf IoT platform can speed up the initial launch, but may introduce licensing costs and dependencies on the vendor’s roadmap. A tailored solution on Azure or AWS gives you more flexibility over architecture, integrations and future development. We help assess the trade-offs, including the cost of running and maintaining the platform over its lifetime.

We build on both: Azure IoT Hub and Event Hub, or the AWS stack. The choice usually follows the cloud your company already uses. Proekspert is a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Digital & App Innovation and Data & AI.

You do. The platform runs in your Azure, AWS or existing cloud account, the source code lives in your repositories and the data stays in your cloud. You can extend it in-house or with another partner.

Yes. We connect devices over standard protocols such as MQTT, WebSocket, HTTPS and JSON-RPC. Where the device side needs to change, our embedded engineers adapt the firmware.

Updates are delivered securely over the air, and the platform shows which firmware version each device runs. For the device side, see Secure firmware updates.

Yes. We start with a review of the code, infrastructure and running costs, then agree with you what to keep, fix or rebuild. We have done this for heat pump platforms: moved an existing system to a modular Azure cloud and kept it running 24/7.

Yes, if your devices depend on it. Under the CRA, a product with digital elements includes its remote data processing: the cloud backend you design or have built for it, without which the product can’t perform one of its functions. The CRA’s security requirements then cover that backend too.
