Here, there, everywhere: Proekspert at 2024 trade fairs

Proekspert attended trade fairs all over Europe in 2024 – you’ll see which ones below. We’ll be globe trotting in 2025, as well, and we’d certainly enjoy the opportunity to meet with you. Check out our past and present activities in the post below.

Our calendar included notable gatherings like embedded world, the Data Innovation Summit, World Data Summit, Energy Week, Nordic Business Forum, Industry Space Days, and SPS Fair, among others. Through these events, we showcased our innovative solutions and insights, reinforcing our role as a leader in advanced technology development.

Taivo Liiv, Proekspert’s Business Development Lead, enthuses, “Trade fairs are an absolute energy boost! We got to hang out with the top tech players in Europe. It was a whirlwind, and by the end, I felt like I needed to sleep for a week under my desk. It’s all about expanding our network and connecting with existing and potential clients. These fairs give a snapshot of where the market’s heading, while niche events let us dive deep into focused discussions. It’s all about passionate people having meaningful conversations.”

Vaasa Energy Week

We attended Energy Week 2024 in Vaasa, Finland, where we collaborated with Enterprise Estonia to present our Secure Firmware Update solution. On March 12th, our experts, CSM Antti Aasma and Mika Kinnunen, CSM Finland and Nordics, showcased our innovative technology, offering attendees an exclusive opportunity to engage with our team and experience a live demo. It was a fantastic chance to connect with industry professionals and demonstrate how our solution shapes the future of renewable energy.

Proekspert was represented at the embedded world Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg, Germany from April 9 to11, the third time in a row. “The embedded world fair is always such an important and interesting fair to participate in,” says Proekspert’s embedded business unit lead, Jukka Halttunen. This year there were around 32,000 visitors from 80 countries. The topics we focused on at the fair were device cyber security, including secure firmware updates, custom software development, and remote device management. Since the EU Cyber Resilience Act was enforced later in 2024, security was one of the key topics during the entire fair.”

This year’s main topics were:

  • Security: Ensuring the security of embedded systems with discussions on new security measures and protocols.
  • Embedded AI: With keynotes from AMD and analog devices, discussing advancements and applications in embedded artificial intelligence.
  • IoT (Internet of Things): Innovations and solutions in IoT were prominently featured, highlighting the integration of embedded systems with IoT technologies.

On April 11, 2024, Terry London took the stage at embedded world, delivering a compelling presentation on “Preparing Industrial Device Manufacturers for the Upcoming EU CRA – From a Secure Embedded Software Development Perspective.” Terry´s topic got a lot of attention and was popular with both onsite and online visitors.“

We keep finding better and better solutions and will be at the fair once again in 2025”, says Jukka Halttunen.

World Data Summit & Data Innovation Summit

Attending the Data Innovation Summit and the World Data Summit this year was incredibly insightful, but it really stood out for its superb vibe, where it’s always great to catch up with colleagues from the data domain.

Meanwhile, the World Data Summit in Amsterdam offered an intimate setting with roundtables where top practitioners discussed crucial data topics beyond the hype, such as ethics, accessibility, and proven use cases in global companies. Both events were invaluable for anyone in the data field.

Industry Space Days

Proekspert was proud to participate in the ESA Industry Space Days 2024, held at ESA/ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Our representative, Antti Aasma, was present to engage with the space community and discuss our pioneering initiatives, including the development of an AI chatbot for Behavior Based Safety and hazardous conditions reporting. This breakthrough solution addresses critical challenges in industrial safety, enhancing the quality of reporting and fostering a culture of safety within global sustainable chemical solutions provider factories.

Antti Aasma says,Our expertise is using AI to better space exploration and satellite operations. We optimize performance, improve data processing, which all adds up to support better decision making for CNES, France’s space agency.”

SPS fair

Proekspert stands out for its expertise in balancing security with financial feasibility, leveraging years of experience and strategic alignment to navigate the evolving landscape of device security requirements. Despite the presence of consulting giants, our deep technical expertise shines through, reinforcing the importance of experienced leadership in crafting secure solutions.

The idea to attend the SPS Fair took shape during embedded world in April 2024. In November of that year, our experts Terry London, Jukka Halttunen, and Antti Aasma participated in the SPS – Smart Production Solutions Fair in Nuremberg. At this premier event for smart and digital automation, we shared a booth with SandGrain, a pioneering company that specializes in IoT cybersecurity solutions. Together, we crafted a joint message: “We future-proof device security,” with SandGrain providing the technology and Proekspert serving as the integrator.

“Proekspert leverages over 20 years of expertise to assist industrial device manufacturers in navigating the complexities of IEC 62443 compliance, ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place. SPS is the right place to be because of the high competence level of the attending companies and their concerns regarding security matters,” says Terry London, Proekspert Product Owner & Partner. “Working with SandGrain, we’re able to bring a lot of value.”

“Reflecting on the SPS (Smart Production Solutions) fair, discussions revealed varied levels of awareness about the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), adopted by the EU in October 2024,” says Antti Aasma. “This legislation affects all businesses with network-connected devices, with significant financial penalties for non-compliance. Navigating the complexities of the CRA, alongside the ‘device security ecosystem’ of standards like NIS2 and IEC, poses a substantial challenge. Most companies indicated readiness levels between 20 and 80 percent, underscoring the crucial need for management support to address these challenges effectively.”
